Ideally, we are targeting the audience of those who enjoy the films of the thriller genre, therefore as an example people who watch films such as, Black Swan or Interstellar (both thrillers) will most likely enjoy another film that would lie in the same category. This is our fundamental goal when trying to understand our intended target audience.
