What are the 4 different types of film openings?

Titles on a blank screen

Main conventions and reason for use:

  • White text and black background, its most common and create a high contrast, its clear and readable font
  • It offers a simple uncomplicated way to include institutional information
  • Its also low budget
Tiles on still images

Main conventions and reason for use:
  • Elaborate hand drawn credit
  • Incorporating text with a visual image
  • Its clear and readable
  • Started to develop and get longer, more elaborate
  • Hint of the film because of soundtrack and visual
Titles over Moving Images

Main convention and reason for use:
  • Incorporates  the credit
  • Conventionally moving images
  • Theres Titles, sound but no dialog
  • Metaphors - hints in the film
  • Narrative thread
Titles using Animation or Motion

Main conventions and reason for use:
  • Animated text in a title was introduced in 1940
  • It integrates to the we see
  • Styled editing
  • Digital based production
My favourite type of title sequence would be Titles using Animation or Motion because its more modern for our generation, it seems more updated sand interest ion to watch, as a spectator I'll feel more intrigued in the film if Animation or Motion is used in a opening. Like the film 'Catch me if you can'
